World Series Game 7 Draws 51M Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The thrilling extended matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51M watchers in the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball reported this is the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest averaged 27.33M viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic game after the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a 16% improvement over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – recorded 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series drew 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American average reached 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million viewers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and the network’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 various languages.
